Whilst I personally am not an MCSE, I worked, until very recently
with a guy who is. He never went on a course but instead he used the
Brain Dump sites on the 'net and was quite happy to admit that he'd
never come across a question in an exam that he hadn't already seen
the answer to on one of these sites.

Experience is more important. Newsgroups often have recently qualified
people posting looking for work and the general opinion is that this is so.

LOL - take 30K off that and you might be closer to the real amount.
No employer in their right mind is going to take an inexperienced but
qualified person on at that rate of pay.

Pass - but if you like learning then yes, I guess it could be.

Whilst not meaning to demean the qualification, nothing prepares you for the
"Real World" more than actually working in it. Unfortunately, some employers
will not give you the chance without the qualification and to get it you
need experience (IMHO anyway) - Catch 22 :(
Not much help but hopefully giving you a better sense of reality ;)
